Machines in Space (1973)

Toys in Space #4

This one is literally pictures of space toys.  I really enjoy how it connects children imagining what their (your) toys are doing while they (you) play with them with the actual jobs of people exploring space. It looks like a translation or reprinting of a japanese book based on its style and approach.

  1. That's adorable. The space pooch on the cover looks to be a knockoff of this authentic Snoopy collectible from 1969:

    This makes the presence of the more recognizably on-model Snoopy in the "exploring the moon" scene even more curious. I can well imagine they wouldn't be allowed to use a Snoopy likeness on the cover for legal reasons, so maybe someone crossed their fingers and hoped no one would notice the interior shot?
